Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF: Successful!

5 Nov

On Halloween night, our team participated in Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF.  A handful of Cornell students joined the cause, as we went around to the numerous dorms on campus. We also received some help from the students from the local elementary school. In total, we raised $283. Below some of the participants share thoughts on their experience:

Nguyet Minh Hoang (Julie): Trick or Treat is our first event. I feared that it would fail. I worried that under class pressure, our members would ultimately loose energy toward the date of the event. There have been too many things going on.
Thursday, Oct 31st, as all of us said goodbye to October, Believe In Zero said hello to a new start. We succeeded. Students from Cornell showed up and helped us to Trick or Treat. The result was mind-blowing. We raised $285 in coins ( there were a couple of $1 and $5 bills)
It is impossible for me to fully express how grateful I am for my team’s effort. Michelle and Megan were great leaders. Their team was the most devoted. The executive members were utterly supportive. This is the best experience I have had at Cornell so far. We have gone from nothing to $285, from scratch to an active club of Believe In Zero at Cornell. We have worked through sweat and tears.

Nola Ihejirika: I found the event wonderful. We got to help UNICEF and raise awareness in the Mount Vernon community, which is awesome.

Cris Fernandez-Reyes: Being involved with UNICEF helps me become more sympathetic towards those less fortunate. During the Trick-or-Treat Fundraiser, it helped knowing that there is a benefit going towards children. During the fundraiser, the fundraiser was made more difficult by the cold weather and my tight schedule, but knowing others will benefit makes me happy and it definitely outweighs the difficulties.
